Be decent
- Satire of situations, never of groups. Joke about traffic, traders and the rider who can't find your gate. Don't attack anyone for their ethnicity, tribe, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or appearance.
- No harassment or bullying. Don't target, insult, threaten or pile on anyone, and don't keep contacting someone who has blocked you or asked you to stop.
- No threats or violence, and nothing that encourages self-harm.
- Keep it clean. No sexual content, nudity or sexual comments about anyone. SoftLife is for adults, but it isn't an adult platform.
- Nothing illegal, including content about illegal drugs, weapons or crime.
Keep yourself and others safe
- No scams. Never ask anyone for sign-in codes, PINs, passwords, BVNs, card or bank details, or to send money or airtime. SoftLife staff will never ask for them either. Our filters block known scam phrases, phone numbers and links in chat.
- Don't share personal details, yours or anyone else's: phone numbers, addresses, workplaces or photos of real people.
- Don't impersonate anyone, including SoftLife staff, moderators, payment companies, brands, officials or other players. Names that suggest you work for SoftLife or a payment company aren't allowed.
- No spam, repeated messages, chain messages or advertising. Sponsored content in SoftLife comes only from us, labelled Sponsored.
Play fair
- No cheating, bots, scripts, auto-clickers, modified apps or exploiting bugs. If you find a bug, report it.
- One account per person. Don't use extra accounts to farm gifts and rewards, boost party payouts or get around a mute or ban.
- Never buy, sell or trade accounts, play money or in-game help for real money or anything outside SoftLife. Play money has no cash value.
- Nothing in SoftLife is a bet. Don't organise wagers on cups, duels or polls, inside the game or outside it.
Audio rooms
- Speaking and hosting are for full accounts with an adult date of birth. Hosts can bring people up to speak, mute them, move them back to listening and remove them from their room.
- Rooms are live and never recorded by SoftLife. Don't record or rebroadcast them without the agreement of everyone speaking.
- Hosts are responsible for keeping their room within these guidelines. SoftLife moderators can join any room to keep it safe.
- Sponsored rooms always say who sponsors them.
Reporting and blocking
You can report a player, a crew, a party, a chat message, a guestbook note, an audio room or someone in it. Every report goes to our moderators. A chat message reported by 3 different established players is hidden until a moderator reviews it.
Blocking works both ways: a block hides chat, guestbook notes, invites, friend requests and room presence between you and the other player. If someone asks you for codes, card details or money, report them and block them.
If you think someone is in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
Limits that keep chat healthy
- Chat messages can be up to 280 characters, and guestbook notes up to 120.
- You can send 5 chat messages every 10 seconds and 150 an hour, and leave one guestbook note per player a day.
- Chatting, posting and speaking need a full account, so guests can look around but can't talk to strangers.
What happens if you break the guidelines
We look at what happened, how serious it was and your history, and may:
- remove the content;
- warn you;
- mute you in chat for an hour, a day, a week or permanently (crew officers can also mute members in their crew's chat for up to 7 days);
- remove play money or items obtained by breaking the rules;
- suspend your account;
- ban your account permanently.
Strikes apply to the things you name and write in SoftLife: names, profiles and, as they arrive, businesses, designs, events, posts and reviews. One strike is a warning. Two stop you creating or editing public things for 72 hours; three, for 30 days, and your creations are hidden. A serious breach (anything that puts a child at risk, sexual content, threats, or scams) can remove the content, stop you creating for 30 days and lead to a suspension at once. A strike counts for 90 days, or a year for a serious one. You can see yours in Me → Moderation.
Some things are checked by a moderator before anyone sees them: names close to a brand or a well-known person, text that looks like a job scam or asks for money or personal details, and, for new and under-18 accounts, most of what they write. Names of brands are kept for the brands themselves.
We act straight away when someone's safety is at risk, and we report illegal content to the authorities where we must. Every action our moderators take is logged.
Appeals: if you think we got it wrong, appeal a strike in Me → Moderation, or write to support@playsoftlife.com within 30 days, with your game name. A different moderator will review the decision and tell you the outcome.
